The Election Commission had called for a meeting with the secretaries of political parties contesting the Local Government election, on March 23 at the Election Secretariat.
The decision was made after the Commission members held a meeting today regarding the upcoming local elections.
Meanwhile, the EC at the meeting also decided that the political parties should hand over their audited statements of accounts under Parliamentary Elections Act.
The Commission also said that they have notified the parties which have failed to submit their statements of accounts from 2021 up to date to to submit their accounts.
They also called to submit the statements of accounts for the year 2021 within 14 days from today or else the parties would not be recognized as political parties according to the Parliamentary Election Act.
