Former TNA Member of Parliament Podiappuhamy Piyasena, 62 was killed in an accident today morning in the Akkaraipattu area, hospital sources said.
He was admitted to the Kalmunani hospital after his bike collided with a bus.
He entered Parliament after contesting the 2010 Parliamentary election under the TNA and thereafter backed by UPFA. However he contested under the UPFA in 2015 and was defeated.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
