Today (13) marks the second day of the island-wide strike that university non-academic staff across the island collectively initiated.
The token strike was launched by non-academic employees of all 17 state universities at midday yesterday, in protest of the authorities' refusal to implement the wage increases that they had agreed to do at the meeting on January 22.
Speaking in this regard, Co-secretary of the Inter University Trade Union Federation K. L. D. G. Richmond warned about the continuation of their trade union action over the coming week if the relevant authorities do not pay heed to their existing issues.
