Protesters have been ordered to refrain from blocking many designated roads in Colombo.
The order applies to 16 activists of several organizations, including the convener of the IUSF , Wasantha Mudalige and those involved in organizing the protest.
The protesters are demanding early local government elections and constitutional amendments to abolish the executive presidency, among others.
Security was stepped up across Colombo today. Security personnel were deployed in and near prominent government buildings, such as the offices and residences of the Prime Minister and President.
Increased police deployment continues in the vicinity of Galle Face Green, which housed a major protest camp from March to August 2022.
