The Meteorology Department today said showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the day or night and fairly heavy showers above 50mm are likely to occur at some places in these specific areas.
Showers or thundershowers will come to pass at a few places in Central and North-Western provinces during the day as well as the night.
Quite a few spells of showers will fall out in Eastern and Uva provinces and in Matale district.
Several downpours will occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Trincomalee via Pottuvil and Batticaloa. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Matara via Colombo and Galle during the evening or night.
Winds will persist as north-easterly and will strike at 25-35 kmph. Wind speed may shoot up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam and in the sea areas off the coast extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
The sea areas off the coast widening from Mannar to Colombo through Puttalam and from Galle to Pottuvil through Hambantota will be rough occasionally. The other sea areas around the island will remain moderate.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
