Former Minister and All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC) Leader Rishad Bathiudeen lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today over a statement made by Minister Wimal Weerawansa yesterday (9).
Minister Weerawansa had allegedly told a public gathering that Mr Bathiudeen and his brother had spoken on the phone with Zaharan Hashim, the ringleader of the Easter Sunday attackers.
Mr Bathiudeen's complaint alleges that Minister Weerawansa had deliberately made a false and malicious statement aimed at misleading the public. The complaint requests the CID to conduct an immediate inquiry into the statement and take legal action against the minister.
