The Cabinet has approved the purchasing of seven million doses of the Russian 'Sputnik V' vaccine for 69.65 million US dollars.
According to the proposal submitted by the Minister of Health, five million Sri Lankans are to be vaccinated as a first step and that the Ministry plans to vaccinate 14 million people.
The proposal also stated that the National Medicine Regulatory Council has approved the emergency use of the Russian made 'Sputnik V' vaccine in the country
