Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry has rejected allegations made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claiming that genocide took place in the country during the conflict in the north.
“Sri Lanka vehemently reiterates its rejection of the allegation of genocide in Sri Lanka in a statement issued on 23 July 2024 by the Canadian Prime Minister. This position has been previously reiterated to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau”, a Press release said.
“This allegation arising from local domestic vote-bank politics is not conducive to unity and communal harmoy in both Sri Lanka and and Canada’, the release added.
Sri Lanka in May denied the same allegation made by the Canadian PM.
