The Association of Medical Specialists said it is very vigilant about the assurances given by the government to review the current taxation policy.
Issuing a statement, the President of AMS, Dr. LakKumar Fernando said the medical specialists would not hesitate to take appropriate action if the assurances are not converted to desired results.
“AMS decided to suspend the current trade union action from March 16, 8 am based on the meeting with President Ranil Wickremesinghe on March 13 and letter issued by the President’s Secretary on March 14 as well as the expected outcome of the negotiations the government had with IMF on March 21,” the statement said.
The Association of Medical Specialists said they are committed to monitor and would not hesitate to protest if the government shows a lack of sincerity and moves to increase its own expenditure resorting to undesirable and untimely actions based on selfish political agendas.
