The bodies of two individuals have been found along with a weapon in a van which had exploded during a shootout between security personnel and a group in Kalmunai this evening, STF Commandant Senior DIG M R Latiff said.
Meanwhile, an explosion has been reported at a residence which was raided in Kalmunai, Mr. Latiff noted adding that a stack of suicide vests were also discovered at the house.
The bodies of the two individuals who were found dead are believed to be that of terrorists, Army Spokesman Brigadier Sumith Atapattu told Times Online.
One civilian is reported to have died while three were left injured following the shootout, the Army Spokesman noted.
