Assets worth Rs 1.5 million had been destroyed due to a fire at a carpentry workshop last Saturday.
Area residents, who had taken immediate steps to notify the workshop owner regarding the incident, had collectively doused the fire which had erupted at midnight.
Furniture worth Rs 1.2 million had been destroyed along with the machinery and equipment at the workshop. Stocks of wood at the manufacturing shop had also been destroyed along with other raw material.
Police Scene of Crime Officers had conducted an investigation at the site upon the instructions of Chief Police Inspector Anura Gunawardena.
