Gnanasara Thero not among inmates to be granted presidential pardon - Prisons Dept.
The name of Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Ven Galagodaththe Gnanasara Thero is not among the list of persons who would be granted presidential pardon this year, the Prisons Department said.
This year, President Maithripala Sirisena had signed the release of 762 prisoners who had committed minor offences, inmates who had passed the age of 70, and suspects who were serving imprisonment for failing to pay their fines relating to their offences.
Meanwhile, the families and relatives of prison inmates will be granted an opportunity to meet the latter in keeping with the Vesak Festival.
Families and relatives of inmates will be able to do so from 9 am to 4 pm on May 19 and 20.
