A hail storm was reported in Jaffna yesterday (Apr 16) marking the end of a drought which had been prevailing in the area over the last few days.
Residents of Nirveli, Jaffna who were able to witness the hail storm said that such a phenomenon had never occured in the area.
Against this backdrop, the Meteorological Department has predicted short spells of heavy showers across the island during the next few days.
The forecast also urges the public to take precaution over possible lightning strikes which may occur during this period.
