A suspect who was apprehended over allegedly maintaining ties with the Easter Sunday suicide bombers was handed over to the Terrorist Investigations Department (TID) yesterday (May 21).
M.B. Mohamed Safwan was arrested in Dharga Town on April 27 by officers attached to the Beruwala Police Division.
Upon questioning the suspect, Police had learnt that Safwan had close ties with Easter Sunday attack ringleader Mohamed Zahran Cassim.
Accordingly, steps were taken to hand him over to the TID for further investigations.
