Chief Incumbent of the Kataragama Kirivehera Rajamaha Viharaya, Ven. Kobawaka Damminda Thera, who was injured in a shooting incident was admitted to a private hospital in Colombo yesterday after being airlifted via a helicopter.
A five hour surgery had earlier been performed on the Thera at the Hambantota Hospital. A further surgery was later performed at the private hospital after he was transferred.
Ven. Damminda Thera and another monk were injured after being shot by several gunmen within the Kirivehera Rajamaha Viharaya on Tuesday night.
