Interest on loans obtained by flood victims to be temporarily suspended - Ranil
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today (Dec 28) said the premium fees and interest imposed on loans obtained by the flood-affected victims in the North will be temporarily suspended.
He made these remarks while addressing a special discussion at the Kilinochchi District Secretariat today.
It was decided at today’s discussion to provide an initial sum of Rs 10,000 to each family as compensation.
Mr. Wickremesinghe also emphasized that there is urgency in disbursing compensation and relief items to those affected.
Following the discussion, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe met with victims who were in shelters.
He had also distributed dry rations, clothing and several other essential items to the victims.
