The Motor Traffic Department has decided to amend its laws concerning the registration of ownership transfer of vehicles, Motor Traffic Commissioner General Jagath Chandrasiri said.
According to the former regulations, the previous owner of a vehicle was not required to be present during the process of transferring the vehicle to another individual. However, the previous owner was required to submit an affidavit concerning the transfer of ownership.
Following the enforcement of a new regulation, both the previous owner and the buyer must be present at the Motor Traffic Department during the process of transferring the ownership, Commissioner General Chandrasiri noted.
