More taxes are expected to be included in next year’s interim budget after the recent salary hike of public servants cost the government Rs 120 billion, a senior Finance Ministry official said.
The official told Times Online that the government has spent Rs 950 billion on the wages of public sector employees out of the total revenue of Rs 2 trillion expected to be earned this year.
Accordingly, the Finance Ministry which is to submit an interim account for the first quarter of next year is to include more taxes to bridge the gap between the country's revenue and expenditure, the official said.
