Navy arrests 22 fishermen engaged in illegal fishing
Naval personnel attached to Eastern Naval Command in Nilaweli arrested 22 persons who engaged in illegal fishing practices using unauthorized nets in Nilaweli sea area yesterday,Navy said.
Along with the fishermen 5 Fiber Glass Dinghies 3 fishing nets, 3 pairs of diving fins and 4 diving masks were also taken into naval custody. The arrested persons and the items were handed over to the Trincomalee Assistant Director of Fisheries for further investigations.
