One person was killed and 28 others injured after two buses transporting people to quarantine crashed into a lorry transporting vegetables at Warakapola this evening.
Police Media Unit stated that the accident had occurred at about 4.50pm near the Warakapola post office along the Colombo-Kandy Road. Two navy buses transporting people to a quarantine centre crashed into a lorry headed towards Colombo carrying vegetables.
A total of 29 persons who sustained injuries were admitted to the Warakapola hospital where the lorry driver succumbed to his injuries. Three navy personnel are also among the injured, police added.
