The situation around the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) is under control as security personnel have been stationed around the airport, Air Force Spokesman Group Captain Gihan Senaviratne told Times Online.
He said that vehicles in and around the BIA will be subjected to inspections owing to the current situation of the country.
Further, roads opposite the BIA might be closed from time to time in order to conduct special security checks in case of witnessing a suspicious vehicle or a device.
However, the general public have been requested not to panic since security personnel are carrying out several search operations as a part of their enhanced security measures, Group Captain Senaviratne said.
