A constable attached to the Special Task Force (STF) has died in a motor accident yesterday (May 27), Anamaduwa Police said.
The accident had occured when the constable had been travelling by motorcyle along the Anamaduwa-Chilaw road last evening.
The deceased has been identified as 31-year old P. Namal Ratnayake, a resident of Anamaduwa. He had been attached to the STF camp in Kalutara at the time of his demise.
It is reported that the STF constable had met his tragic fate while returning from a funeral.
According to the Police, the mishap had occured when the constable had lost control of his motorcycle which had skidded off the road due to speeding.
