The Wildlife Department officials recovered a four year old Sri Lankan leopard alive at Gardmore Thambedenna tea estate in Maskeliya, Hatton today. The leopard was stuck between branches of a 15 feet height tree in the estate.
The Manager of the tea plantation estate informed the police about the struggling leopard. The police, with officials of the Wildlife Department officials, arrived at the spot immediately.
The Wildlife Department officials used a tranquilizer gun to bring down the leopard from the tree. The leopard was taken into Minipe Wildlife hospital. The officials said the recovered leopard will be released to the forest after it fully recovered.
