The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has warned residents in the downstream areas of the Yan Oya to remain vigilant since its sluice gates would be opened today (Dec 28).
Deputy Director of the DMC, Pradeep Kodippili said the sluice gates would be opened since the water levels of the Yan Oya had reached the maximum level.
Accordingly, the DMC has advised residents of the Trincomalee and Polonnnaruwa districts to remain vigilant during this phase of time.
