Leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranaga claimed his first ODI five-wicket haul (6-24) after Sri Lankan batters feasted on poor UAE bowling to record a crushing 175-run win in their opening world cup qualifying game at Bulawayo a short while ago.
Along the way Hasaranga also became only the second Sri Lanka leg-spinner to reach 50 ODI wickets behind Upul Chandana.
Sri Lanka put on a mammoth 355 runs for the loss of just six wickets after UAE invited Sri Lanka to bat first. Batters Dimuth Karunaratne (52), Pathum Nissanka (57), Kusal Mendis(78), Sadeera Samarawickrema(73), Charith Asalanka(48 not out) and Hasaranga (23 not out) added to UAE misery with some sublime batting effort.
Chasing a huge total, UAE were bowled out for 180 runs in the 39th over with Hasaranga running through the inexperienced UAE batting line-up.
Sri Lanka 355/6 in 50 overs (Dimuth Karunaratne 52, Pathum Nissanka 57, Kusal Mendis 78, Sadeera Samarawickrema 73, Charith Asalanka48 not out, Hasaranga 23 not out; Ali Naseer 2/44)
