SL players in IPL 2023: Four remain; two released

Country's all-rounder - Chamika Karunaratne - owned by Kolkata Knight Riders was released; while world's no.1 bowler - Wanindu Hasaranga - was unsurprisingly retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore, in their players trade of the Indian Premier League on Tuesday.

Dushmantha Chameera, Sri Lanka's seam merchant, was also released by Lucknow Super Giants, who handed an IPL debut for him, last year. 

Karunaratne, after only an one-off season, didn't find himself along with Afghanistan Mohammed Nabi, having recently resigned from captaincy during the World Cup, and who's team is due in the country for a three-match ODI series.

In addition, Punjab Kings stuck to their explosive batter, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and so did Chennai Super Kings to their bowling duo - Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theeskshana.   

Karunaratne was bought by filmstar Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise for INR 50 Lakh in the mega-auction.

By releasing Chamika Karunaratne and Mohammad Nabi, their ex-franchise have freed up their purse by 1.5 Crore.

Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India instructed all franchises to submit the list of their retained and released players by Tuesday (15).
