Army Sports Club and MAS Southern won the Men’s and Women’s championships respectively at the 88th ABA Boxing Nationals 2015 held at the Sports Ministry Indoor Stadium at Torrington in Colombo.
Army SC clinched five gold medals to be the champions and Navy SC won three gold medals to be the runner-up in the men’s category.
In the Women’s events MAS Southern won four gold medals and were crowned the champions while MAS Thuruliya emerged runner-up with two gold medals.
P.V.D.D. Saparamadu of Slimline ‘A’ was adjudged Men’s Best Boxer while K.A.D. Dharmatilaka of Thuruliya won the Best Boxer’s award for Women.
M.Y.M. Dilshan of Air Force SC and D.L.S. Sandarekha of MAS Southern won the awards for Best Losers in Men’s and Women’s categories respectively.
The Most Outstanding Boxer the Year for 2015 was won by N.G.S. Jayaweera of Slimline ‘A’.
Sri Lanka Army bagged the award for the Most Successful team of the Year 2015.
