Sri Lanka cricket captain Angelo Mathews has decided to step down from leading the side after the disastrous ODI defeat against Zimbabwe by 2-3 according to reliable infirmation.
Mathews has met the members of the Selection Committee late on Tuesday (11) to discuss matters on his decision to step down the captaincy.
Mathews' decision will make Rangana Herath the captain of the Sri Lanka Test team but the final verdict on this is yet to be made by the Sri Lanka Cricket officials.
In addition Upul Tharanga and Dinesh Chandinal too have been tipped to take the leadership role.
Mathews is likely to officially reveal his decision on Wednesday (12).
