Cricket: SLC’s new Executive Committee hold first official meeting

The newly appointed Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) held its inaugural meeting at the Auditorium of the SLC in Colombo on Tuesday (5).

At the meeting the appointment of the Management Committee consisting of all office bearers was made.

“Six strategic areas under the business plan of SLC were highlighted at the meeting and the following Office Bearers were appointed to overlook the respective areas,” the SLC Media Unit in a statement said.

Accordingly SLC President Thilanga Sumathipala will be in-charge of the Development aspects while International Cricket comes under Vice President Jayantha Dharmadasa.

Domestic Cricket will the purview of Vice President K. Mathivanan while Administration comes under Mohan de Silva. 

Treasurer of SLC, Shammi Silva will be in-charge of Finance. 

Corporate Communications will come under the observation of Ravin Wickramaratne and Lalith Rambukwella.

The establishment of a Financial Advisory Committee which will consist of five members as follows: 

SLC to nominate a member with Local and International Cricket Experience, who has a sound financial  background; A representative from the Ministry of Sports; A representative from the Ministry of Finance; A representative from the Association of Sri Lanka Institute of Chartered Accountants and A Member with sound financial background from a member Club/Association nominated by SLC.

 Treasurer of SLC would be an ex-officio member of this committee.

“The ExCo appointed President of SLC Thilanga Sumathipala to represent Sri Lanka as Director of the International Cricket Council and Jayantha Dharmadasa as the alternate Director of the ICC,” the statement issued by SLC said.

“The ExCo also nominated Thilanga Sumathipala to represent Sri Lanka as President of Asian Cricket Council and Mohan de Silva to represent SLC as Director of Asian Cricket Council.”

“The ExCo also decided to support the Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion Week from January 25 to 30 organised by the Presidential Special Task Force of Sports and Physical Fitness and the Ministry of Sports.”
