Saunders beat current Dialog Champions League title holders Colombo FC 5-1 to reach the final of the Mayor’s Cup Football Championship in a semi-final match played at the Sugathadasa Stadium on Thursday (10).
Saunders led 2-0 at halftime and surprised the juggernaut of Colombo FC by scoring three more goals in the second half.
Mohamed Moosa struck twice, one each in both sessions, while Sajith Dharmapala, Kaushalya de Silva and K.G. Udara scored a goal each for the winners.
K.A.D. Madushanka netted the solitary goal for Colombo FC.
Colombo FC will take on Mayor’s XI in the final to be played on Saturday (12) at 5.30pm at the Sugathadasa Stadium.
