Sri Lanka reached the semi-final stage of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship after India beat Nepal by a margin of 4-1 in the final first round match of the Group ‘A’ at Tivandram in India on Sunday (27).
Sri Lanka would not have qualified for the semi-final had Nepal won the game by a margin of two goals.
India leads the Pool 'A' points table with six points while Sri Lanka are placed second with three points with a win and two losses.
The last time Sri Lanka qualified for the SAFF final was in 1995.
