Hockey: Royal outsmart Kingswood to win Lennie de Silva Trophy

Sport

Royal College defeated Kingswood College 4-0 in their 10th annual hockey duel to win the Lennie de Silva Trophy after leading 3-0 at halftime.

The game was played at the Astro Turf ground in Torrington as Royal extended their tally to six wins.

Kingswood recorded their solitary win in 2006 while three games have ended in draw.

For the winners, centre forward and vice captain Imaadh Dole scored twice while Thineth Karunaratne and Sajaad Irshad scored a goal each.

This annual fixture between the two schools is played for the trophy named for Lennie de Silva, a past Kingswoodian who spearheaded in introducing hockey at Royal as its master-in-charge in 1955.
