The Mercantile Division ‘C’ 50-Over League Cricket Tournament 2016 for the ‘BMW-Hyundai’ Trophy will flag off on December 19 and scheduled to reach the finish on February 13, 2016.
Sponsored for the 5th consecutive year by the Prestige Automobile this year’s edition will be competed by nine teams pooled in two groups.
The tournament will be conducted in two stages, the League and the Knockout consisting 23 matches.
The League stage with 16 matches will conclude on January 24, 2016, spread around MCA, D.S. Senanayake College, St. Benedict’s College, Wesley College, Colombo Colts and FTZ Grounds in Katunayake.
At the completion of the above stage, the first four teams of each group will advance to the Knock-out stage to play criss-cross quarter-finals.
The quarter-finals will take place and January 30 and 31 and the semi-finals to be played on February 6 (January 7 kept aside as the reserve day) and the Finals at the MCA Grounds on February 13.
Best Batsman, Bowler, Man of the Tournament and Man of the Final will receive special awards at the conclusion of the tournament which will be supervised by MCA appointed Match Referees.
Group A: HSBC ‘A’, Mclarens Group, Nations Trust Bank ‘A’, JL Morrison and Colombo Dockyard PLC
Group B: Peoples Leasing and Finance, Airport and Aviation Services, Standard Chartered Bank and PABC Bank.
