The Federation of Motor Sports Sri Lanka held their awards night for national champions in motor sports. Altogether 11 riders received national awards. Sangeeth Suriyage and Shoel Daniel received two national championship awards each for supermotard and super sports class respectively.
The duo dominated motor racing through the year by breaking national track records with the best lap timings.
Sangeeth and Shoel have been the most prolific tarmac riders during 2016 in the motor cycle racing arena.
Their ability to handle the tarmac is unmatched and both have broken national records at Katukurunda and Pannala tracks in their respective disciplines.
It is noteworthy to mention that Shoel is backed by renown technician and his brother ex racing champ Ned Daniel, and Sangeeth is a guy who makes his own bikes and modify mostly vintage machines, competing with new bikes yet keeping the momentum in racing.
Another dirt track rider who has shown prominence in the Motor Cross racing is Ishan Dassananyake, who is the most prolific winner on gravel tracks and has been on a winning streak at SLADA MX during 2016.
He has participated in many international events in India, Malaysia and Indonesia.
He is crowned as the undisputed champ in MX in Sri Lanka when he was awarded the national colours for 2016.
