Matara District defeated Kurunegala District by 28 points to 26 to clinch the women's netball title of the 27th National Youth Sports Festival while Kegalle District edged out Jaffna District to clinch the men's netball title. Kalutara District and Matara District won third spots respectively. 48 women’s and men’s teams representing 24 districts participated at this year's netball event held in Matara last weekend. Minster of Southern Development Sagala Rathnayaka was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. The 27th Youth Sports Festival is jointly organized by the National Youth Services Council, Sri Lanka Federation of Youth Clubs, State Ministry of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Policy Planning, Economic Affairs, Child, Youth and Cultural Affairs.

The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
