Sri Lanka beat Malaysia 53-48 in a closely contested final to regain the Asian Youth Netball Championship in Hong Kong on Sunday (20).
Sri Lanka reached the final of the tournament with an unblemished record, beating defeated India 102-10, Chinese Taipei 93-32, Malaysia 64-48, Singapore 69-56 and host Hong Kong 72-42.
Sri Lanka had previously won the Asian Youth title in 1998 under Harshani Wijelath and in 2002 under Sashika Samarasinghe.
This time around the team was led by Gayani Dissanayake.
Japan won the Plate championship beating Chinese Taipei 41-40 while Thailand won the Shield championship beating Brunei 38-34.
Singapore won the Bowl championship after defeating hosts Hong Kong 42-28.
Sri Lanka, Malaysia and third seed Singapore qualified for the World Youth Netball Championship 2017 to be held in Botswana.
