The Lanka Lions Veterans won the Plate Championship in the Gulf Vets Dubai 7s Rugby Tournament, which runs alongside the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in Dubai.
The Lanka Lions, led by Azarath Deen and coached by former national cap Roger Rodrigo, is the only side that represented Sri Lanka in the Veterans’ tournament.
In the Plate final the Lanka Lions beat Dubai Frogs Veterans by 24-5.
The main team of Lanka Lions competed in the Gulf Men’s Open Tournament and were successful before they were defeated in the semi-final game of the Cup Championship.
