Mohamed Fazil representing Sri Lanka Army pocketed the National Under-21 Snooker Championship after beating Mohamed Shamil of MICH 4-1 at Otters Sports Club in Colombo.
In the final Fazil beat Shamil, who represented Moors Islamic Cultural Home after taking the first three frames 55/25, 63/31 and 66/16 before losing the fourth 25/58.
With the win of the fifth frame by 68/57 after a close tussle, Fazil sealed the win.
In the semi-finals Fazil beat team mate Mohamed Rikaz by 3-1 while Shamil overcame Army’s Mohamed Rashid 3-0.
The third place playoff was won by Rashid, who beat Rikaz by 2-0 in an all-Army battle.
All four semi-finalists will qualify for the Asian Under-21 Snooker Championship.
