WI in SL: Sri Lanka opt to bat as Kusal Mendis make Test debut

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat against the West Indies in the second and final Test match played for the Sober-Tissera Trophy at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo today (22).   Sri Lanka has made two changes from the side that won the first match in Galle by dropping vice captain Lahiru Thirimanne and off-spinner Tharindu Kaushal.   Kusal Mendis makes his Test debut at the expense of Thirimanne while Dilruwan Perera takes Kaushal’s place as an off-spinner.   West Indies has dropped Shannon Gabriel and given debutant Jomel Warrican the place.   Sri Lanka: Dimuth Karunaratne, Kaushal Silva, Kusal Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews (Capt), Milinda Siriwardana, Kusal Perera (wk), Dhammika Prasad, Rangana Herath, Nuwan Pradeep, Dilruwan Perera.   West Indies: Kraigg Brathwaite, Shai Hope, Darren Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Jermaine Blackwood, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Jason Holder (Capt), Devendra Bishoo, Jeremy Taylor, Kemar Roach, Jomel Warrican.
