The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce said applications are now being entertained for the “Best Corporate Citizen Award 2009,” event on December 10.
The event is being held for the 6th consecutive year.
The chamber said it has decided to encourage companies to adopt a strategic approach to CSR, which will strengthen a company’s commitment to CSR. The application has been re-oriented to reflect this approach.
In an effort to recognise special CSR projects undertaken by private setor/ public sector (Government) entities, the chamber will also recognise the outstanding efforts in special projects in identified areas such as infrastructure (building hospitals, roads, schools, housing etc), education and training, projects to assist the differently-abled, projects in the North/East, health and nutrition programmes (HIV AIDS, Malaria, Dengue programmes etc), disaster relief and rehabilitation, environment, sports and recreation, empowering women, among others. |
