News photographer passes away

Anura Gunasekara, former Pictures Editor of the now defunct Independent Newspapers Ltd group, passed away last morning after a brief illness. He was 75.

Anura was one of the leading news photographers of his generation, covering many of the historically important events of the time.

His remains lie at No. 329/82 Lake Crescent, Attidiya, Dehiwela. The cremation will take place at the Mount Lavinia Cemetery at 4.30 p.m. tomorrow.
