The Interact Premier League was held for a second consecutive year at the Bloomfield Grounds in Colombo last month.
The tournament consisted of 30 teams, while each team had 7 players representing them for the two categories which were, boys and girls. The tournament was held on a knock out basis while each innings lasted 7 overs.
The players were not the only ones who were having a good time even the spectators had a chance of enjoying themselves as there were games along with DJ music and not forgetting the entertaining sixes, the breath taking catches and record breaking moments.
The Quarter Finalists were the TC Lions from the Interact Club of Thurstan College, Kalabala 7’s and the Seven Stars from the Interact Club of Isipathana College, Zahira College Team A, Mahanama College, District Boys, Zahira College Team B and Royal College.
The District Girls, Mushrooms from the Interact Club of Visakha Vidyalaya, AIS and Nalanda College qualified as the first semi-finalists.
Royal College emerged winners of the IPL 2009/10 while Nalanda College bagged the boy’s category trophy. The District Girls emerged as the champs of the girl’s category.
Migara Wijesiri from Royal College was awarded the best batsman of the IPL, while Samantha Samarawickrama emerged best batswoman and Sandaruwani De Silva was awarded the best female bowler of the IPL.
