On a recent visit to the offices and manufacturing facilities of GSK in Sri Lanka, Dr. Hayes said, “It’s about fair play, being as good as your word; being honest and living up to your promises. That is at the heart, not just of business, but of all relationships.”
In a press release issued by GSK, he was quoted as saying that it’s not about British companies coming here and selling to Sri Lanka. It is about setting up here for the long term, building and investing here in a relationship that draws on the skills and expertise of Sri Lankans and spotting the business opportunities here, he added.
Dr. Hayes was accompanied by Ms. Nadeesha Epasinghe, the Deputy Head of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).
Dr Hayes said Sri Lanka now stands on the threshold of new opportunities as the world economy starts to emerge from the economic crisis and there are huge opportunities for Sri Lanka and for all of ‘us’.
“My advice is that to face the challenge of competitors, we have to market ourselves on the basis of our values for the long term.”he said. |
