The students of Business Management, Batch 36 of ICBT City Campus donated a fully-fledged kitchen, toys for the play kingdom and vital medical equipment such as oxygen regulators, to the children's ward at the Maharagama Cancer Hospital.
The donation was funded fully by the student’s project: “Together for Hope” BM 36, which they planned and implemented within three months for the partial fulfillment of their Higher National Diploma. The Donation was handed over to the administration of the Cancer Hospital- Maharagama on the 17th of November 2011 by the students with the blessings of the senior ICBT administration and academic staff members.
The children's ward of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital treat Children aged below 12 years and thus far was served with common meals prepared for all patients. Refurbishment of the kitchen facilitates the parents and families to prepare their own food according to the liking of the young patients.
The Kitchen was opened by Dr. Prasad Abeysinghe, MD, Consultant, Clinical Oncologist and Mr. Mohan Pathirana, CEO/Executive Director – ICBT Campus with Dr. DamayanthiPieris, MD, Snr. Consultant at Maharagama Cancer Hospital along with students, nursing staff and parents.
