Advanced Level students of Gateway College have the unique opportunity of joining a ten day Summer Camp in New Zealand where they will stay in the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, engage in state of the art learning and participate in sightseeing and sport activities. On successful completion, students will receive a certificate from the University that will be valuable in thier future whether they study in UC or elsewhere.

During their stay, the students interested in Science will have the opportunity of participating in workshops related to Colorimetry, Dissections, Nanotechnology, Radioactivity, Volumetric analysis and many more. Similarly, students interested in Commerce will participate in workshops related to Management, Economics, Accounting, Managing a company in a business simulation, modelling real world behavior etc. Common activities for all students will include sightseeing such as visits to Akaroa, Melton Observatory, and Museums etc. They will also take part in sport activities such as ice skating.
The very first group of twenty one students will leave for New Zealand on the 9th of December. The tour group includes Advanced Level and Foundation course students of Gateway Colleges Colombo, Negombo and Kandy. The Heads of Gateway College Kandy and Gateway College Negombo will accompany them. The Sri Lankan community in Christchurch too has extended their fullest co-operation to this programme.

Having strengthened their position in the Primary and Secondary sectors, Gateway has opened new horizons in tertiary education through its Graduate School that has links with reputed International Universities in the UK, Australia and now New Zealand. The programmes that are expected to commence in February 2012 include BE (Hons) Engineering (Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer, Civil, Natural Resources, Forest and Chemical & Process Engineering), BSc Science majors (Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science), Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting, Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, International Business, Management, Management Science and Operation Management, Marketing, Strategy and Entrepreneurship, Taxation & Accounting) and B Sc/BA in Psychology.
