It’s a first for the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka (SOSL) when they present the “SOSL Pops-Trilingual Extravaganza” at the Bishop’s College Auditorium on October 20 at 7 p.m.
A fan favourite, the SOSL Pops concert is always sold out and this year the SOSL is preparing a trilingual programme of popular local songs such as “Nadhi Ganga”, “Master Sir”, “Ukulata Nawath”, “Baba Yetu”, despite the lack of orchestral music for many of them. Conductor Nishantha Warnakulasuriya is spearheading the show with Chitral Somapala in the spotlight. Also taking part are the Soul Sounds, Soul Sounds Academy Choir and the Soul Sounds Academy Children’s Choir directed by Soundarie David Rodrigo.
It’s a great opportunity to see the works of a great Master. “Van Gogh 2”, the second exhibition featuring the works of Vincent Van Gogh, one of the most influential figures in Western art history, will be up at Sky Gallery of the Fareed Uduman Art Forum, 65/9 Kirula Road Colombo 5, from October 18-28. Each exhibit is crafted with precision to ensure that Van Gogh’s original size, textures, colours, and details are faithfully represented on canvas.
Young voices will be heard at the Lionel Wendt on October 14 as ‘Kishani Kids in Concert’, directed by well-known classical singer Kishani Jayasinghe goes on the boards.
