In an effort to contribute even in a small way to Sri Lanka’s national healthcare system during these difficult days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ladies’ College Old Girls' Association (LC OGA) conducted a fundraising drive in May and June 2021 to help equip a High Dependency Unit (HDU) at the District General Hospital, Negombo (DGH Negombo).

Past LC-ites from around the globe came together in a concerted effort to fight the catastrophic impact that COVID-19 is having on our country, with donations flowing in from the United Kingdom and Australia, co-ordinated by affiliate branches in London and Victoria as well as Sri Lanka.

“Thanks to the generosity of Old Girls and other donors, the LC OGA raised LKR 6.5 million and was able to make a meaningful contribution to the new HDU at the DGH Negombo, donating, amongst other items, two CPAP/BPAP Machines, High Flow Nasal Oxygen Therapy Machine, Syringe Pumps, Infusion Pumps, Nebulizers and Multipara Monitors,” said its President, Fathima Aziz.

The equipment was selected based on the requirements of the DGH Negomboand was delivered directly to the Director of the DGH Negombo.
