The Intra-Squad match played between two teams of the visiting Sri Lanka cricket squad, each led by Kusal Janith Perera and Kusal Mendis, ended in a decent tie at the Old Trafford in England on Wednesday (16).
Batting first Kusal Mendis' team scored 250 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs, and in response, Kusal Janith Perera's team ended with similar figures, thus ending the practice game in a tie.
For Mendis' side Ramesh Mendis top scored with a well compiled 71, which came off 89 deliveries and allrounder Isuru Udana made 44 off 87 deliveries.
Opener Oshada Fernando managed to strike 39 runs while spinner Akila Dananjaya and speedster Chamika Karunaratne grabbed three wickets each, as newcomer Binura Fernando picked up two wickets.
Opener Avishka Fernando top scored for Perera's team with 64 runs, while Dasun Shanaka (44), Danushka Gunathilaka (30) and skipper Perera (28) chipped in with useful knocks.
Fast bowler Asitha Fernando grabbed three scalps while Dushmantha Chameera and Praveen Jayawickrama claimed two wickets apiece.
