The Premier Limited Overs Cricket Tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has been put off by a week according to the Head of Tournament Committee, Ravi de Silva.
The Premier Limited Overs competition was scheduled to begin this Friday (20) but according to De Silva it will now kick start after seven days.
The reason behind the postponement was the inclement weather condition which prevails throughout the country.
“The tournament committee decided on the new dates in concurrence with the Premiere clubs and proposed an amended schedule,” a statement issued by SLC said.
“As per the new dates, the tournament will begin on November 27 and will conclude on December 30. The dates of the League tournament will remain the same,” it added.
The Limited Overs tournament sponsored by AIA features 14 Premier Cricket Clubs -- Colts, Ragama, NCC, CCC, SLPA, Saracens SC and Tamil Union competing in Group A and SSC, Moors, Army, Bloomfield, Badureliya, Chilaw Marians and Galle CC playing in Group B.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals, which will be telecasted live on TV.
