The much flaunted Zonal Tournament planned to be staged by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) would be stillborn barring the Zonal T20 tournament which already is in the pipeline.
At the end of the Premier League three-day tournament, the Super League which was to be played for the duration of only three days would be extended for four days, thus shelving the zonal tournament.
The Zonal structure was discussed to be adopted during Sidath Wettimuny served as the Interim Committee Chairman of SLC.
